Energy Drinks
Energy drink supplements emerged as an alternative to coffee designed to provide enhanced energy over an extended period of time. Energy drink manufacturers most often advertise their products as containing a unique blend of caffeine, vitamins, and herbal supplements, but neglect to mention their high caloric content.
While energy drink products are often marketed as diet supplements, they do not actually cause weight loss at all. The enhanced energy may cause more activity thus resulting in dropped pounds. Several studies have been published on the effectiveness of energy drink products, finding that an energy drink can not only result in an increased amount of energy, but amplified mental and cognitive performances as well as increased subjective alertness.
While it is possible to find a safe and effective energy drink, consumers need to beware of products high in calories and caffeine. Many energy drink supplements use sugar and caffeine that provide an initial spike of energy but cause a crash later on. In addition to the sudden drop in energy, users may find additional negative symptoms occur. Cheap and dangerous energy drink supplements and pills have been known to cause jitters, agitation, anxiety, irritability and insomnia.
When searching for an effective and healthy energy drink, be sure that the product has no sugar, no carbohydrates, no carbonation, few calories and minimal caffeine. This will ensure that the product succeeds as an energy drink while supplementing a weight loss diet.
