Hoodia Gordonii Diet Pills

Hoodia gordonii is a plant from South Africa that naturally and safely suppresses appetite. Hoodia gordonii diet pills have become the latest trend in weight loss, but unfortunately most of the Hoodia gordonii diet pills marketed as Hoodia gordonii diet pills contain just trace amounts of Hoodia gordonii, and lots of other ingredients, primarily stimulants such as caffeine, as well as fillers, additives and flow agents.

The American public’s interest in Hoodia gordonii diet pills was piqued in 2004-2005 after the TV show 60 Minutes featured a story about Hoodia gordonii diet pills, followed a few months later by an O magazine article about Hoodia gordonii diet pills of the future. The History of Hoodia Gordonii

Hoodia gordonii is a desert plant native to South Africa, Angola and Namibia. Officially discovered by Dutch explorer Robert Gordon in 1779 – Hoodia had been known to the local San Bushman communities for millennia. This unassuming succulent plant produces white flowers that smell like carrion. San hunters chew the Hoodia flesh because it suppresses appetite and thirst, and increases energy which is vital for their survival when they go on long hunting trips in the Kalahari Desert. They even give some Hoodia to their hunting dogs! During times of famine whole tribes chew the plant while they migrate to more fertile lands, and in Botswana hungry children are given Hoodia to suppress their hunger pangs until food can be acquired.

During the process of cataloging native plants used by the local Bushman communities, the South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) became intrigued with the Hoodia gordonii plant and its implications for our modern society's problems with obesity. They tested it on animals and isolated the bioactive compound that suppresses appetite. They patented it and licensed it to British company Phytopharm under the name P57.  Through the years other pharmaceutical companies have been interested in Hoodia, Pfizer in particular. But when they were unable to recreate the Hoodia bioactive compound synthetically in their laboratories, Pfizer lost interest, and by 2003 had abandoned the project.

Hoodia gordonii is a plant species on the watch list of CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora). No one can grow, harvest or export Hoodia gordonii without legal permits issued by the South African Government.

Be sure any Hoodia gordonii diet pills you buy come from a reputable company that:
